It’s cool to be kind

Today’s the day to smile at strangers, treat your work bestie to one of your best brews on the tea round or to tell your mates just how much you appreciate them.

Because today is Random Acts of Kindness Day and we say it’s cool to be kind! But not just today – every day!

A small act of kindness can make a huge difference to the way you feel, the vibe you give off and your relationships with the people around you. It’s contagious. It’s a bit like a chain reaction (has anyone else got that song stuck in their head now?) and it all starts with one small compliment or simple thank you. So be cute and be the one that kickstarts it all today!

Be kind to yourself

Start with you. Give yourself a pat on the back for simply being you! Have that naughty dinner you’ve been craving all week, take a nap, buy that new top you’ve had your eye on or write yourself a gratitude list. You work hard and you deserve it.

Today’s the day to be kind to your future self too – wash those dishes tonight so that tomorrow you don’t have to face them, tick one more thing off your to-do list before you leave work, learn a new craft or use that facemask you’ve been saving and enjoy a mindful moment before bed. You’ll wake up tomorrow feeling fresh, feeling better, more positive and ready to face the day ahead. Yas queen!

Having a bit of ‘you time’ is not to be underestimated. Reminding yourself just how brill you are will boost how you feel and in turn, how you make the other people in your life feel.

Be kind to others

From small acts of kindness to big gestures, there are lots of ways you can make a difference on Random Acts of Kindness Day. Treat your bae to a night out, send your ‘rents a gift or clean up for your housemate (the ultimate act of kindness if you ask us! Cleaning is serious effort!).

But hang on, these random acts don’t all need to be saved for your nearest and dearest because each and every day you will meet and see new people. You could be commuting on the train or bus, at the gym or just popping out on your lunch break. So, today is the day to give up your seat for someone else, allow another shopper to go first or simply smile at the passer-by who looks like they might need a little pick-me-up.

There are also several local kindness initiatives that you can take part in too and some great charities and organisations which offer acts of kindness and support to different communities all over the UK. Use today to research how you can continue to offer acts of kindness all year round.

Enjoy the day, feel the difference and Amplify your kindness on Random Acts of Kindness Day!
